Rockies & Vancouver
August 21, 2012 – 4:28 amJust came back from a short vacations. This time we decided to finally see some wilder parts of Canada (Ontario is nice & all, but that’s not really how I imagined this country). We flew to Calgary, visited Canmore/Banff area in Rocky Mountains and then flew again to Vancouver. Logistics was a little bit tricky, but definitely worth the extra effort. Banff/Lake Louise is just hauntingly beautiful. Some of the photos here were shot from a driving car, you look around and want to gasp. Side effect is that it actually depleted my resources of enthusiasm and made me a little bit harder to amaze. In fact, after the first day in Vancouver, I was a little bit disappointed, after Rockies there’s not much that can “wow” you. The other thing is that maybe I was expecting too much, with everyone being so excited about Van. I mean, it’s a very nice city, but in the end — it’s just a city. After few more days, I’m ready to admit, it’s really cool, as far as cities go, I can easily see the appeal. Shame about the recent industry onslaught, here’s hoping Sleeping Dogs will do well.
We were flying with WestJet and I was really pleasantly surprised with their service. Everyone has been very helpful & super nice, refreshing change. It is a little bit weird that trip like that is actually more expensive than “all inclusive” package in a good hotel in Caribbean, but it was definitely worth it. Few photos (click to enlarge). I’ll upload the others to my Picasa site at some point (still waiting for a new laptop).

So looks like you’re quite the outdoorsman now ;-) Can’t say I blame you after seeing the photos though… (btw, pic 1/9 is missing its thumbnail)
If you ever wanna try rock climbing while back in PL, hit me up – it’s the next logical step ;-)
And yeah, fingers crossed for United Front, from what I hear they delivered a stellar product despite the rocky journey.

Stupid gallery plugin got confused, should work better now. My ‘outdoorsing’ is limited to peaceful strolls now, as I travel with a 16m old. I’ll have to go back there one day and try some proper hikes.
